Implicit Bias in Healthcare Workshop 3 Hour Virtual Event – May 5

Using Cultural Intelligence to manage bias in healthcare

“Implicit bias (IB) in health care is such a relevant topic at this time. IB is a barrier to diversity and health equity. As a nurse educator, I have the responsibility to ensure that future nurses are informed and aware of their unintentional discrimination and the impact it has on health outcomes.”

– Lynn Schmidt Ph.D., RN, CNE – Dean, School of Nursing and Kinesiology at Anderson University

The Implicit Bias in Healthcare virtual workshop provides healthcare practitioners and professionals with an in-depth understanding of implicit bias (often called unconscious bias) and explicit bias. This workshop teaches you how to manage your bias and interactions with diverse patients, practitioners and peers.

This invaluable skill benefits all healthcare practitioners by helping them become self-aware and equipped with actionable insights into cultural diversity, personal and systemic biases which are present in healthcare practices, processes and policies.

Implicit Bias in Healthcare virtual workshop participants will develop the critical skill of cultural intelligence using the Cultural Intelligence (CQ) framework. This framework draws upon research-based findings to provide strategies for disrupting bias in healthcare practitioners and organizations.
